This is another song written by Bill Cox (see Democratic Donkey and NRA Blues). This was written shortly after FDR was re-elected the first time in 1936. He won by the largest plurality in history. This song praises FDR for getting people back to work but concentrates more on his repeal of Prohibition. He began that within weeks of taking office in 1933. The country had been ‘dry’ since 1919 and it was tremendously unpopular and basically a failure. The joy of having FDR ‘back again’ is underlined by the fact that there were legal alcohol sales now. This recording is by Bill Cox.
