Walter Vinson (1901-1975) was born in Bolton Mississippi and was a member of the Mississippi Sheiks (along with the Chatmon Brothers) and later the Mississippi Footers. Besides his own name he also recorded under the name Walter Jacobs, a common practice at the time that allowed musicians to sign multiple contracts with recording companies.

“I Can’t Go Wrong” is a song about the NRA (National Recovery Administration). The phrase “We will do our part” is taken from the encryption on the NRA logo that states “We Do Our Part.” There is also mention of Henry Ford who had refused to sign on to the NRA. FDR, it is said, thought Henry Ford did more damage to the NRA than anyone else. Vinson sings the song here with at least some of the Mississippi Sheiks.
